Why You’ll Always See Plants in My Designs

If you’ve followed my work for a while, you’ve probably noticed a common thread woven through every project: plants. Whether it’s a sculptural fiddle leaf fig in the corner, a cluster of small succulents on a coffee table, or a cascading pothos on a shelf, greenery always finds its way into my spaces — and for good reason.

1. Plants Balance Symmetry

Design is all about balance, and plants are one of my favorite tools to achieve it. When a room starts to feel too structured or too minimal, a touch of greenery instantly brings harmony. A tall tree can visually balance a statement chair or artwork, while a smaller plant can anchor a vignette and tie everything together.

2. Plants Soften the Space

Hard lines, clean edges, and structured furniture create a polished look — but too much of that can feel cold or rigid. Plants naturally soften those edges. Their organic shapes and flowing leaves break up straight lines and add a sense of movement that makes a room feel more inviting and lived-in.

3. They Create Texture and Add a Pop of Color

Texture is what makes a space feel dynamic. From glossy leaves to delicate fronds, plants introduce a variety of surfaces and shapes that draw the eye and add visual depth. Plus, their natural greens (and sometimes unexpected hues) infuse color in a way that feels fresh and timeless — no paint swatch required.

4. Plants Make a Space Feel More Grounded

Plants connect us to nature, even indoors. They bring an organic element that reminds us of the outdoors and helps create a sense of calm. Whether it’s a single plant on a windowsill or a lush collection throughout your home, greenery helps a space feel more centered, balanced, and grounded.

5. The Wellbeing Benefit

Beyond aesthetics, there’s real science behind why we feel better around plants. They help purify the air, reduce stress, and even boost mood and productivity. Simply put, a home filled with greenery doesn’t just look good — it feels good too.

In Conclusion

For me, plants are the finishing touch that brings life to every space. They blur the line between design and nature, form and feeling. Whether you’re styling a minimalist apartment or a cozy family home, adding greenery is one of the simplest ways to make your space feel complete, calm, and full of character.
