Building moves fast and your builder needs answers. We prepare the selections and drawings ahead of each decision, visit site to protect the design, then furnish the finished home so it is ready to live in.

Full interior design and documentation of your new build. Your builder works from our drawings, we oversee the design through construction, and we furnish the home when it is done.

DISCOVERY CALL
A short call with one of our designers about your build, your goals and your timeline.

ON-SITE CONSULTATION
90 minutes on site to review the plans, explore ideas and agree on scope. Your written proposal follows.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Concepts and 3D renderings, then final selections and the plans and elevations that guide construction.

CONSTRUCTION PERIOD
We support your building team, arrange key purchases and visit site so the original design is kept intact.

FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION
Planned alongside the design, then sourced and installed once the build is complete and everything has arrived.
MEET YOUR DESIGNER
Mona Patel
With a degree in Design from the University of Huddersfield in England, Mona spent several years with a respected Charlotte design firm before launching MK Interior Design Co. in Mooresville.
Indian by heritage, British born and raised, and American for two decades, she brings an international eye to new homes built for family life.
INVESTMENT
New build design fees are based on your home’s square footage and confirmed in writing after the on-site consultation. Furniture and accessories are paid separately, in full before ordering, once you have approved them.

When should we bring in an interior designer?

As early as you can. Working together early in the build means design decisions are made ahead of time, in line with your vision, rather than rushed when your builder needs an answer.
Can you help us choose a builder?

Yes. We can help you tender the project and engage a builder, including site visits and meetings with the builders you are considering.
Do you handle exterior finishes?

Where needed, yes. Alongside the interiors we can select exterior finishes such as siding, stone, windows, roofing and colors, so the outside of the home matches the inside.
Do you furnish the home as well?

Yes. The furniture plan is developed alongside the interior design, working in pieces you already own, then sourced through our trade vendors and installed once the build is finished.
Where does MK Interior Design Co. work?

The studio is based in Mooresville and designs new homes across Lake Norman, including Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver, Sherrills Ford and Statesville, as well as Charlotte and the surrounding area.
What do we receive before construction starts?

Design concepts and 3D renderings, final interior and exterior selections, scaled plans and elevations for your trades, a fixtures and finishes schedule, and lighting and electrical plans where the home needs them.
