Designing interiors is as much about creativity as it is about expertise. While technical knowledge ensures a space functions beautifully, interior design inspiration is what brings it to life. People often ask me where I find my ideas, and the truth is, inspiration comes from many places—some expected, and others quite surprising. Here are a few of the ways I keep my creativity flowing as a designer.

Markets

There’s something about walking through markets that always sparks my imagination. The mix of textures, colours, and craftsmanship gathered in one place feels like a living mood board. From handwoven textiles to intricate ceramics, these discoveries often translate into design details that bring warmth and character to my projects.

Travel

Travel has a way of expanding perspective unlike anything else. Experiencing different cultures, architecture, and ways of living constantly fuels new ideas. Whether it’s the timeless elegance of European townhouses or the vibrant energy of a Moroccan riad, I love bringing elements of what I see abroad back into my work at home.

Workshops

Hands-on learning is invaluable. Attending workshops allows me to sharpen my skills, experiment with new techniques, and stay at the forefront of design innovation. Beyond the practical benefits, being surrounded by other creatives in a collaborative setting is deeply energizing and reminds me why I love this industry.

Other Interior Designers

One of the joys of this profession is the sense of community. I’m continually inspired by how other designers approach a space—whether I’m admiring a project in a magazine, scrolling through social media, or visiting a beautifully curated home in person. Their creativity pushes me to keep evolving, and it’s a reminder that design is a shared language with endless interpretations.

In Closing

Inspiration is everywhere if you know where to look. For me, it’s about staying curious—whether I’m wandering a market, traveling to new places, learning a fresh skill, or admiring the work of a fellow designer. These experiences not only enrich my own creativity but also allow me to bring thoughtful, meaningful ideas into the homes I design. After all, a truly inspired space is one that feels alive.
