Why We Don’t Share Our Sources as Interior Designers

“Why don’t designers share their sources?”

It’s a question we’re asked often — and it’s a perfectly fair one. After all, when you fall in love with a particular piece or detail in a space, it’s natural to want to know exactly where it came from. However, sourcing is one of the most significant — and most valuable — parts of what we do as interior designers.
Over the years, we’ve invested considerable time and care into building relationships with trusted local vendors, skilled artisans, and reliable suppliers. These connections don’t happen overnight. They are formed through experience, trial and error, and a great deal of trust. Knowing who delivers quality, who stands behind their work, and who can be relied upon when timelines matter is a crucial part of ensuring our clients receive the best possible outcome.

When you choose to work with a designer, part of your investment goes towards that expertise and network. You’re not simply paying for furniture or décor — you’re investing in a curated process, access to trade-only resources, and a trained eye that knows how to pull every element together seamlessly. This behind-the-scenes work is what allows a project to run smoothly and a design to feel considered rather than pieced together.
Another important reason we don’t openly share our sources is simple: we want your home to feel truly one-of-a-kind. If every supplier and vendor were shared publicly, it would become far more difficult to create spaces that feel distinctive and personal. Our goal is never to replicate a look, but to tailor each design to the client, the home, and the way it’s meant to be lived in.
At the heart of it all, great design is about far more than where something was purchased. It’s about proportion, balance, layering, and how each piece relates to the next. It’s about creating a home that tells your story — one that feels intentional, personal, and impossible to duplicate. And that thoughtful, curated approach is exactly what we’re proud to offer.
