Starting a design project is undeniably exciting—but it also comes with its fair share of questions. And rightly so. Inviting someone into your home and trusting them to shape your space is a significant decision.

We believe transparency is essential from the very beginning. The more you understand the process, the more enjoyable (and seamless) it becomes. Here are a few of the questions we’re asked time and time again—and exactly how we approach them.

How long will it take?

Every project comes with a considered timeline, and in many cases, we’re able to begin sooner than clients expect.

That said, it’s important to understand that design, construction, and ordering rarely move in a perfectly straight line. Lead times, availability, and site conditions can all influence progress. A level of flexibility is not only helpful—it’s often necessary to achieve the best possible result.

Can we start soon?

In most cases, yes.

We’ll guide you through our current availability, outline the next steps, and clearly explain what needs to happen before work begins. From the outset, our aim is to ensure expectations are aligned so you feel confident moving forward.

How much is it going to cost?

This is, understandably, one of the first questions asked—and the answer is that it varies.

Every project is entirely unique, so rather than offering a fixed figure too early on, we provide a realistic range based on your scope. Our honest advice? Plan for more than you initially anticipate.

Thoughtful design, quality materials, and bespoke details do require investment—but they’re what ultimately elevate a space from ordinary to exceptional.

Why do designers charge a procurement fee?

A procurement fee often raises eyebrows, but it covers a substantial amount of work happening behind the scenes.

From sourcing and purchasing to order processing, tracking shipments, overseeing quality control, managing delays, and ensuring everything arrives exactly as intended—this stage is both time-intensive and crucial to the success of the project.

It allows us to handle the complexities so you don’t have to.

How involved do we get to be?

As involved as you’d like—within reason.

We always encourage clients to share what they love, what they don’t, and what truly matters to them. Your input is invaluable in shaping the direction of the design.

From there, trust becomes key. The most successful projects are those where collaboration and professional guidance work hand in hand, allowing the process to feel both personal and expertly led.

Final Thoughts

At the start of any project, questions are not only expected—they’re welcomed. Open communication lays the foundation for a strong working relationship and, ultimately, a beautifully considered home.

Our role is to guide you through each step with clarity, honesty, and intention—so you can enjoy the process just as much as the finished result.
