DISCOVERY CALL
A short call with one of our designers about your home, your goals and your timeline.

ON-SITE CONSULTATION
90 minutes in your home to walk the rooms, explore ideas and agree on scope. Your written proposal follows.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
We learn how your family lives, then turn it into concepts, 3D renderings, plans and a full selections schedule.

FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION
Run alongside the design so it all fits together. We source, order and install every piece to finish your space.
Furnishing can also be part of a new build design or kitchen renovation, so the whole home is planned at once.
MEET YOUR DESIGNER
Mona Patel
With a degree in Design from the University of Huddersfield in England, Mona spent several years with a respected Charlotte design firm before launching MK Interior Design Co. in Mooresville.
Indian by heritage, British born and raised, and American for two decades, she brings an international eye to homes that work for family life first.
INVESTMENT
Your design fee is set out in a written proposal after the on-site consultation. Furniture and accessories are paid separately, in full before ordering, once you have approved them.

Where does MK Interior Design Co. work?

The studio is based in Mooresville and furnishes homes across Lake Norman, including Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver, Sherrills Ford and Statesville, as well as Charlotte and the surrounding area.
Can you work with furniture I already own?

Yes. The furniture package is designed around the pieces you want to keep, so favorite furniture, art and heirlooms sit naturally alongside everything new.
How long does it take to furnish a home?

Longer than most people expect. In-stock pieces can ship in one to two weeks, while custom and designer furniture often takes 8 to 22 weeks. Your timeline is set out at the start so you know what arrives when.
How much should I budget for furnishings?

A helpful rule of thumb is to set aside around 25% of your home’s purchase price for furnishings. Every project is different, but planning for it early avoids rushed purchases and leaves room for pieces you will love for years.
Where do you source furniture and decor?

From a mix of trade-only vendors, exclusive showrooms and select retail partners. That gives you access to quality, distinctive pieces that are not widely available in stores.
What is the difference between an interior designer and a decorator?

Designers handle function as well as looks, including layouts, renovations and work with builders. Decorators focus on furnishings, finishes and styling within an existing space. MK Interior Design Co. offers both, with a focus on full service design.
